Since 1987, LASS has become a major charity and voluntary organisation covering the city of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland respodning to the challenges of HIV/AIDS.
We aim to provide services in a safe, welcoming and appropriate environment for all people, including younger people. Through the work of our trained and supported volunteers and staff, we aim to offer services that recognise the needs of the individual and are committed to equal opportunities, confidentiality, challenging discrimination and developing our services through consultation and with Service User involvement.
By supporting people affected by HIV/AIDS we aim to extend a person's choices and options, encourage knowledge and understanding; enable people to take more control of their lives and live a better quality of life.
Through health promotion, community initiatives and campaigns, we also actively work to prevent further infections and to promote positive sexual health.
Our training regarding HIV/AIDS and sexual health promotes knowledge, awareness and understanding; allays fears; tackles myths and misconceptions and helps to reduce negative attitudes, prejudices and discrimination.
By working together with other agencies, we aim to play an integral part in developing appropriate services, working practices, a co-ordinated response to HIV/AIDS and a less hostile and more sensitive environment for people affect.
Please contact us for details of our training regarding HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, Tuberculosis (TB), sexually transmitted infections and sexual health generally or for confidential help, support or information. |
